Hurricane Posters

RitaIke
When Hurricane Rita cut a savage swath across East Texas on September 24, 2005, it left a vivid impact across the countryside and in the minds of those who found themselves in its wake. This image, captured by the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) on board NASA's Terra (EOS AM-1) satellite, reveals the fearsome majesty of the storm as it passed over East Texas. State and county boundaries have been lightly superimposed on the image to aid location. The poster measures 18" x 24" and is off-set printed on high-quality, heavy-weight, semi-gloss paper.

For the second time in three years, a hurricane brought destruction to East Texas. Hurricane Ike was larger and less organized than Rita when it passed over East Texas on September 13, 2008, but no less destructive. This poster of the Storm over Texas captures the scale and intensity of Ike. Created from a composite of Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) data carried aboard the Aqua and Terra satellites, this poster makes a nice companion piece for the Rita poster offered elsewhere on this page. State and county boundaries have been lightly superimposed over the imagery to aid location. The poster measures 18" x 24" and is off-set printed on high-quality, heavy-weight, semi-gloss paper.

All the basic landforms of Texas are clearly discernable from the desert mountains of the west to the gaping gash of Palo Duro Canyon to the lush forests of East Texas. Cultural impacts on the landscape are visible as well, including center-pivot irrigation in the panhandle and the great metropolitan cities of Dallas-Forth Worth and Houston. The poster measures 36×36 and is off-set printed on heavy-weight semi-gloss paper.
